Nominations Open for Michigan Hometown Health Heroes

The Michigan Public Health Week Partnership invites you to join them in celebrating Public Health Week by nominating someone for the annual Hometown Health Hero award. The Hometown Health Hero award is presented to individuals and/or organizations that have made significant contributions to preserve and improve their community’s health in the focus areas listed below. Awardees are selected from nominations received by you. The only way for someone to receive this award is to be nominated. What person or organization in your community deserves this statewide recognition?

The Behavioral Health Initiative aims to address this issue and, in doing so, improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities and promote health equity, and decrease overall healthcare costs—particularly for Michigan children and older adults.

Center for Health Equity Holds Regional Workshop Series Focused on Health Inequities

The Michigan Public Health Institute Center for Health Equity Practice funded by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund is bringing you a workshop series dedicated to improving maternal and infant mortality with strategies that disrupt unconscious bias using a health equity approach. The series is comprised of four training sessions with two progressive themes: (1) Power, Privilege, Oppression and Unconscious Bias in Health Care, and (2) From Concept to Practice: Equity in Action

The series will be provided in 4 distinct regions of Michigan:
