Michigan's Guide to Public Health for Local Governing EntitiesDeveloped by MDHHS in 2006, this comprehensive guide is designed for County Commissioners, Boards of Health, and City Councils, but provides a good overview of the Michigan Public Health system.

Leadership

Supervisory Tools- From Dartmouth, a collection of about 2 dozen tools, from various sources, to enhance supervisory skills (updated 2020).
Essential Supervisory Skills- From the University of Washington, this is a straightforward general resource for supervisors of all types (111 pages). Includes many exercises from a variety of experts (2016)

Management

Resources for Remote Management of Employees - Variety of short articles as well as comprehensive toolkits regarding effective management of remote employees (2020).
Management Library- This comprehensive resource provides guidance for a number of management issues. From Authenticity Counseling, Minneapolis, MN (updated 2020).

Contracts and Grants

EGrAMS (Electronic Grants Administration Management System- This is the tool for local health department management of contracts with MDHHS. Use of the whole system requires a password, but there are numerous pertinent documents available, without a password.

Budget and Finance

Instructions for Annual Budget- From the MDHHS EGrAMS system, this document outlines budget development for the local health department/MDHHS contract (Comprehensive Contract- FY2020).

Community Engagement

Principles of Community Engagement- This document, from the CDC,et al., is an extensive 2011 publication covering concepts, models, frameworks, principles of community engagement, etc. and has numerous references.
