The purpose of this job is to assist the Director with the leadership of the Public Health Department. Provides leadership and direction to departmental managers and staff. Oversees accreditation of the department. Serves on committees and boards.
The Deputy Health Officer supports the Health Officer in leading and managing county public health operations. Provides oversight of public health programs, assists with policy development and regulatory functions, and supports emergency preparedness and response efforts. Offers technical and clinical public health guidance, collaborates with community and government partners, and helps ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health laws. This position may act on behalf of the Health Officer as delegated and plays a key role in advancing the department's mission to protect and improve community health.
