Meeting Dates:
Tuesday, November 14, 2023
Meeting Time and Location:

3pm

Note:

Gun violence is a preventable public health crisis, according to the American Public Health Association.  Gun-related suicides and homicides increased during the pandemic, reaching record numbers in 2021. Cure Violence Global (CVG) (https://cvg.org/) developed a community-based violence interruption model that has effectively reduced aggression , including gun incidents, in many American cities. In this webinar, CVG’s executive director, Dr. Monique Williams, will explain how this prevention model works and its supporting evidence. We will also hear from Rana Epps with the King of Kings Foundation (http://www.kingofkingsfoundation.org/), a youth serving organization, recently featured on ABC News Live . Epps will describe how the CVG model is disrupting patterns of violence in Jamaica Queens, New York and building healthy conflict resolution skills in youth.

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps will host a one-hour interactive virtual discussion at 4 p.m. ET, immediately following the webinar. Participate in an engaging dialogue with peers across the country to share your experiences working toward equity. Mark your calendars and plan to stay as long as you're able.
