This effective workshop will cover the key aspects of running a Rural Health Clinic. The workshop will be broken up into the following topics: 

RHC updates and Emergency Preparedness Updates: 

This session will not cover each RHC guideline but will draw attention to the current changes and updates for the clinic to succeed in certification survey. 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of updates and changes to the RHC certification expectations.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of updates and changes to the Emergency Preparedness expectations.
  • Participants will be given time to ask individual questions and receive guidance on their inquiries.

Required RHC signage and Civil Rights: This session will review the required signage that needs to be visibly posted within the RHC. This session will also review current recommendations for Civil Rights.

OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will gain an understanding of the required signage to be posted in the RHC to be in full compliance.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the required elements of Civil Rights for the RHC.

How to run a front office and connect them to other departments: This session will discuss the value and expectations of the front desk position within the  RHC.  Discussion will take place regarding the value of the front desk position and how  to manage the coordination of efforts between the front desk staff and other departments.

OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will gain an understanding of the value the front office staff brings to the clinic setting.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the impact front office staff has on the patient flow within the clinic setting.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the need for healthy working relationships between the front office and other departments within the clinic setting.

Medical Record Documentation elements: This session will review key elements within the medical record that are reviewed during survey.  This session will also review trail of communication for chart reviews.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of key elements within the medical records that are reviewed during survey.  
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the chart review for non-physician providers and how to effectively document and communicate the chart review.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of using chart review documentation for the annual RHC meeting.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the paperwork reduction effective 1/1/19.  Medicare feel schedule final rule-Patients over paperwork per CMS.  This session will prepare participants for 2021 changes in the medical record documentation.

Human Resource elementsThis session will review the areas of personnel chart review during a survey.  Discussion will take place of how to assure each document is complete for the personnel file.

OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will gain an understanding of each personnel document that is reviewed during survey.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of OIG sanctions and how to conduct research for OIG sanctions.

Basic RHC Billing: This session will review the basic billing elements for RHC.  Elements to consider for Independent RHCs and Provider Based RHCs will be presented.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants will learn the basic differences between Provider-Based and Independent RHCs.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of billing labs and ancillary services for the RHC.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the services not allowed to be billed as RHC.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of basic billing guidelines.
