This Lunch & Learn will feature an informational presentation as well as a moderated discussion with Dr. Spencer. Craig Spencer, MD, MPH, is a professor of emergency medicine and public health at Brown University. With more than a decade of experience in humanitarian response, Dr. Spencer is a vocal advocate for equitable access to medical countermeasures on a local, national, and global scale. In addition to his expertise in humanitarian aid, Dr. Spencer is a champion for frontline and overall pandemic preparedness, studying the impacts of COVID-19 on health systems, clinicians, and patients from a humanitarian perspective. Dr. Spencer previously served on the Board of Directors for Doctors Without Borders USA and is currently a member of their Advisory Board.
Topics that will be addressed during this Lunch & Learn include:
- Vaccine hesitancy – the history of anti-vaccine movements, historical public health responses to those movements, and similarities to the anti-vaccine movements, vaccine hesitancy, & public health response we see today
- Federal legislative activities and funding implications for local governmental public health
- Equitable access to medical countermeasures
