Extreme Heat & Health: Clinical and Public Health Strategies for Prevention and Action

Thursday, July 24 | 1-2 p.m. ET

We are proud to co-host “Extreme Heat & Health: Clinical and Public Health Strategies for Prevention and Action” with Climate for Health on July 24. This interactive, three-hour training will equip you with the knowledge, hands-on experience and resources to speak about and take action on extreme heat in your practice and community. The course will begin at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

Extreme heat kills more people each year than all other extreme weather events combined and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. Fortunately, many, if not most, heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable. This course, presented by APHA and Climate for Health, will equip you with tools to engage clinicians, public health professionals, policymakers and community members in taking action.

Covering both individual care and systemic solutions, this training will empower you to be a leader on extreme heat and health issues.

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Connect extreme heat to health by identifying its impacts and how it exacerbates existing health inequities.
  • Understand how to treat and mitigate heat-related illnesses in individuals.
  • Describe community-based strategies to increase resilience against extreme heat, particularly for vulnerable populations.
  • Communicate effectively on extreme heat and health using evidence-based strategies.

Earn three FREE continuing education credits when you complete the course.
