The Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) is a progressive six county district health department in beautiful Central Michigan providing services to Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, Osceola, and Roscommon Counties. The area is home to the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Reservation and Central Michigan University. It is an area with several lakes, parks, and recreational opportunities.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Health Officer. The Deputy Health Officer reports to the Health Officer and is responsible for implementing and monitoring agency goals as directed by the Board of Health and/or the Health Officer. Will work in close collaboration with Administration. Provides critical leadership in organization and implements processes, policies, and programs to quantify and evaluate outcomes and results, promotes employee recruitment and retention, and promotes continuous quality improvement and performance management. Establishes and maintains partnership with stakeholders at local, regional, state, and federal level to advocate for public health programs and identify and address population-based health issues and trends. Represents agency and provides leadership to regional and state initiatives to promote public health and shared vision for community action. May serve as the Health Officer in the absence of the Health Officer. The Deputy Health Officer may also serve as the acting Health officer in their absence. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public health program management, administration, and leadership, including supervision and project oversight. Masters degree in public health, public administration, health promotion, healthcare administration or related field is preferred. This full-time position offers full benefits, including health/life/dental insurances, 20 vacation and 12 sick days with an additional 3½ paid days of personal time per year, 12 paid holidays, MERS defined contribution retirement plan with up to 10% employer contribution, and flexible scheduling are included. Starting wage is between $49.86-$52.90 per hour, based on qualifications.
