On World Rabies Day, September 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., ET, Michigan’s One Health Rabies Work Group invites you to attend their “Stronger Together: Michigan Partnerships to Prevent Rabies” webinar.
While detections of rabies might not always populate headlines the way cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza or eastern equine encephalitis might, this does not mean the virus no longer presents a threat. Rabies is fatal and continues to pose a risk to animal and human health globally, nationally, and even here in Michigan.
Vaccinating animals remains a vital tool for protecting animal health and public health. However, too many animals are unvaccinated or under-vaccinated.
In the webinar, we will explore the state laws and requirements pertaining to rabies vaccination, potential reasons animals are not fully vaccinated against the virus, and ways to increase the vaccination rates and animal licensing compliance in your community.
Registration for this event is open. The webinar is intended for licensed veterinarians and veterinary technicians, animal control and animal law enforcement officers, animal shelter organizations and their rescue partners, municipal animal licensing staff, and veterinary students. Schedule today!
