Breastfeeding Peer Counselor- Part Time

Under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor and the working direction of the Public Health Registered Nurse designated as Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Supervisor, functions as a paraprofessional support person giving basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers enrolled in the WIC program.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience & Required Skills:

·         Must have breast-fed one baby for a minimum of 6 months

·         Enthusiastic about breastfeeding and desire to help other mothers

·         Familiar with WIC (a current or previous WIC client preferred)

·         Good communication and organizational skills

Special Requirement:  Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and reliable transportation, as work-related travel between offices is required. 

Salary and Fringe Benefits:

This is a part-time position located in the Coldwater Office; 40 hours per two-week pay period with a starting wage of $16.42 per hour.
